Easiest Way to find a Jobs in Uganda
Are you looking for a new job? Maybe you even want to create a good network to connect with job opportunities? I’m sure if you’ve been doing this for a while you’ll agree that it’s never a walk in the park.
You may be disappointed with a relative who promises to keep you updated with the latest job opportunities. Raise your hand when this happens to you, friends who promise to hook you up with their bosses and other people who, in return, want service to get you a job.
These are all the normal voices of Ugandan graduates in a busy job market. Over the years of looking for work, I have spent countless hours sending resumes and emails to all the jobs in Uganda I qualify for.
For most of the companies I apply to, I have no connections. But I’ve found a fairly reliable way to find a job (or at least an interview) without a connection.
The good news is now you can easily get a good job without anyone holding your hand. Here’s how to do it:
3 Ways To Find A Job In Uganda Without A Connection
1. Go alone
Nobody ever said that you have to have lots of people in your network to get a job, or that God the Father is holding your hand.
The only person you have to hire is you. Once you know how to effectively sell yourself and your skills to employers, you don’t need to network at all.
Contact the employer directly and introduce yourself. Leave your comfort zone. Send them an invite on LinkedIn explaining who you are and why they want to meet you. That way, you don’t even need an agent to recommend you for the job.
2. Show them what’s unique to you
What’s your passion? Are you musical, are you fluent? Save the video and send it if you are in the manufacturing industry.
This is a great way to demonstrate your practical skills in video production. You can also add additional job-relevant information to help build your resume.
Employers or recruitment agencies in Uganda are easily impressed by a candidate who knows how to stand out from the rest. Instead of doing what other candidates are doing, try something different that hasn’t been done before.
Find out what other candidates are doing and do what you can to avoid it.
3. Show them that you can do the job
The best way to show your boss that you are perfect for this role is to get your job done now. Find out if there is a problem that requires company help and make a valuable offer to the employer.
Instead, it takes precedence in the selection process. For example, does a company need help getting traffic to their website? Do you want to increase your sales? Do your research, take the time to do it, and show employers how you can help them.
Above all,
Think of the tremendous networking power for job seekers. Networking is not about reaching higher people. It’s about reaching the right people. This could be anyone reaching out from a neighbor or friend.
However, looking for a job when you have no connections does not affect your chances of getting one as long as you are an enterprising job seeker willing to go the extra mile. The question is you
